A New Year, a brand new finish line for City2City

MEDIA RELEASE – 31 January 2019

Up to 5,000 participants and spectators are expected to enjoy a new finish to the 2019 Hume Bank City2City, with both the 10km and 7.5km courses scheduled to finish at Junction Square in Wodonga.

In previous years participants in the City2City have crossed the finish line in High St, opposite Woodland Grove. In 2019, however, roadworks in High St have prompted the relocation of the finish line to the Junction Square area.

Whilst the relocation of the finish line is a necessary change to the course, organisers are excited at the prospect of leveraging the Junction Square precinct and taking advantage of the family friendly facilities now in place at Richardson Park.

‘We have re-designed our finish line area to work with the new location and see this as a fabulous enhancement to the City2City, which is now in its fifth year’, said Michelle Hudson, City2City Co-Founder and Committee Chair. ‘We’ll be working closely with stakeholders in the area to ensure we’re maximising the experience for participants and businesses alike’.

Wodonga Council are equally excited about the opportunity to showcase the most recent innovations shaping the heart of the city.

“We’re thrilled to play host to the City2City finish line each year. The ability to leverage CBD spaces such as Junction Square for events such as this fits perfectly with our vision for these developments and the vibrancy of our city’ added Cr Anna Speedie. ‘The City2City has grown to become an iconic event for both Albury and Wodonga and is a fabulous example of our two cities, one community vision’.

All proceeds raised by the 2019 event will fund life-saving ultrasound equipment for critical care services at Albury Wodonga Health.
